The Shy Zip System was originally designed for the bullet trains in Japan so that the solar shades could withstand the pressure created by the tunnels that they encountered. It did not take long for this system to reach the U.S. and be put in place for exterior shades in high wind areas. Colorado is truly one of those spots. Up till now, many would use the typical solar shade, but as soon as a breeze would come up the shade would have to be lifted. Thanks to this ingenious design, that is no longer the case. You will notice in the pictures or diagrams as to how it works. Don’t be fooled by the very quick copycats that hit the market, the field test prove that the Shy
Zip System was the one that could handle the pressure of high winds, others failed drastically, and yet carry the same cost.
This system can also be installed to the interior of windows with a double roller, one with the solar shade for visibility and the second shade can be a black-out fabric. This is perfect for audio/video rooms or entertainment areas that need glare reduction, but during a video demonstration or movie the room can be completely closed off to light or exterior visibility.
Please visit our exterior fabrics for options and pricing on this unique system. All of these shades can be motorized for upper windows or for your convenience, motors/controls page will have those details.
